The Arizona Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame has been created to recognize and honor the contributions of musicians, entertainers and individuals who have had a significant impact on the evolution and development of the musical and entertainment culture in the state of Arizona and to educate the public about these accomplishments Dolan was inducted into the Arizona Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame in 2011.
For Dolan Ellis, the one award that stands above the rest is being namedArizona’s Official State Balladeer. Since February 1966, 11 Governors have recognized Dolan’s contribution to the music and culture of the state and have honored him in this special way.
A close second to the Balladeership: as a member of the New Christy Minstrels, Dolan won a Grammy in 1963 (Best Group)
When the Arizona Historical Foundation began the Arizona Culture Keeper awards in 2003, Dolan was the first person selected. Each year for 10 years prior to Arizona’s centennial celebration, 10 individuals and groups will be chosen.
Congressional Record
Senator John McCain thanked Dolan publicly on the floor of the Senate, thus placing him and his accomplishments as Balladeer, in the Congressional Record.
Inducted into the Arizona Tourism Hall of Fame.
Named Citizen of the Year in 1996.
